Now lets show you how we created this bee nail art!

Bee nail art, Spring nail art, animal nail art, base coat nail varnish

STEP 1

First of all it is important to make sure your nails are clean and ready to be painted before we start, so we need to do a little bit of preparation. If you have nail varnish on already, you will need to take it off with some nail varnish remover. After this is done, I usually wash my hands just to ensure my nails are completely clean.

Then it’s time to tidy your nails up a little and to shape them to how you want, using with your file. Also, if you want make your nails appear longer – you can push back your cuticles. If you place your hand in some warm water for a few minutes, it will help soften your skin making it easier for you to do this.

Once you are ready, you should apply a base coat to your nail as this will protect your nails from being stained but also will make applying your nail varnish much smoother. We used the Vitamin Base Coat (1) to do this.

STEP 2

Once your base coat is dry (this shouldn’t take too long), we can start moving on to the more exciting parts – deciding what colour you want your nails to be! For this look, we decided to paint our nails with the gorgeous nail varnish in the colour Pillow Talk (2). We applied 2 coats of the nail varnish as this makes sure the nails are covered well.

We recommend you apply two thin coats rather than one thick one as the thicker the coat, the longer it will take to dry.

STEP 3

Once the blue nail varnish is dry, it’s time to start creating this bee nail art! The first thing we need to do is paint on where we would like the bee to be. To make the yellow stand out more on the blue nail varnish, we decided to paint the shape of the bee in white first. To do this, we used the small pointed drawing brush (10) with the nail varnish in the colour White Out (3).

STEP 4

After the white nail varnish is dry, we painted over it using a small pointed drawing brush (10) with the nail varnish in the colour Lemon Meringue (4).

STEP 5

Next we need to give the bee an outline. To do this, we used the dotting pen (9) with the black (5) nail varnish.

STEP 6

Now it’s time to give the bee it’s black stripes! To do this, we used the long pointed drawing brush (12) with the black (5) nail varnish.

Bee nail art, Spring nail art, animal nail art, flower nail art, blue nail varnish

STEP 7

After you have finished painting on the bee’s stripes, we need to give the bee it’s wings! To do this, we painted on 2 circle shapes above the bee using the dotting tool (11) with the nail varnish in the colour White out (3). We also painted on a small eye using the dotting tool (9) with the nail varnish in the colour White Out (3).

Bee nail art, Spring nail art, animal nail art, flower nail art, blue nail varnish

STEP 8

Next we painted a thin outline around the wings. As you can see in the photo above, we painted it so it looks like one wing is covering part of the other one. To do this, we used the dotting tool (9) with the black (5) nail varnish.

Bee nail art, Spring nail art, animal nail art, flower nail art, blue nail varnish

STEP 9

After you have finished creating the bee, to add a bit extra to the look – we decided to add 3 flowers on the little finger nail. To do this, we used the dotting tool (11) with the nail varnish in the colours Neon Fest (6), Sweet Retreat (7) and Ring A Ring O’Roses (8) for the petals, and then used the white (3) nail varnish for the dots in middle of the flowers.

Bee nail art, Spring nail art, animal nail art, flower nail art, blue nail varnish

STEP 10

Now it’s time to add the final touches to this look! We decided to add a trail line starting at the bee, going onto the middle finger nail and finishing on the index finger nail. To do this, we used the long pointed drawing brush (12) with the black (5) nail varnish.

We painted it on the nails so it would look like they are joined up when the nails are together (you can see this in the image at the top!). We started each line on the nail in a similar place to where the other one ended.

And that’s how we created this bee nail look! It’s a super cute look for your nails this spring! It’s also great if you want a cute animal nail look.

I love the blue shade, it’s such a gorgeous colour for this time of the year! I didn’t have a yellow nail varnish before either, but I bought the Collection one – it’s such a great colour and the quality is brilliant, especially for only £2.99 (you can see it more clearly in our tutorial for the Easter eggs nail look)! Rimmel and Essence have a nice one too 🙂
