Dotty Heart | Nail Art

Now lets show you how we created this look!

Dotty heart nail art, valentine's day nail art, base coat nail varnish

STEP 1

First of all it is important to make sure your nails are clean and ready to be painted before we start, so we need to do a little bit of preparation. If you have nail varnish on already, you will need to take it off with some nail varnish remover. After this is done, I usually wash my hands just to just to ensure my nails are completely clean.

Then it’s time to tidy your nails up a little and shape them to how you want them with your file. If you want make your nails appear longer you can push back your cuticles. If you place your hand in some warm water for a few minutes, it will help soften your skin making it easier for you to do this.

Once you are ready, you should apply a base coat to your nail as this will protect your nails from being stained but also will make applying your nail varnish much smoother. We used the Vitamin Base Coat (1) to do this.

STEP 2

Once your base coat is dry (this shouldn’t take too long), we can start moving on to the more exciting parts – deciding what colour you want your nails to be! For this look, we decided to have the ring finger as the main focus so we painted that nail with the nail varnish in the colour White Out (3) and the rest of the nails with the gorgeous sparkly pink (2) nail varnish. We applied 2 coats of the nail varnish as this makes sure the nails are covered well.

We recommend you apply two thin coats rather than one thick one as the thicker the coat, the longer it will take to dry.

STEP 3

Now it’s time to create the main focus to this look – the heart! To do this, we used the dotting pen (8) with 3 different shades of pink and a red. We started with the outline first and then filled in the middle with different sized dots, alternating between the 4 different colours – Double Decker Red (4), Neon Fest (5), Sweet Retreat (6), Pink Manicure (7).

And that’s how we created this dotty heart nail look! It’s a gorgeous look for your nails this Valentine’s Day! It’s also perfect for everyday wear if you want a cute nail look!

I wish I could do stuff like this or that I had finger nails I bite them to death! I will one day stop biting them, and I will make them look amazing like yours!

Haha, aww – yes you can use that as motivation to help stop. I remember thinking when I was younger that I wanted pretty long nails and that helped me 😀

Such a gorgeous nail design! I’m always jealous of people with pretty nails because I’m training to be a nurse, so I can’t do anything fancy with mine!

Thank you! Aww, I know that feeling – in my old job I wasn’t allowed to paint my nails either and if we did we had to wear gloves which made it difficult to do everything! I’m allowed to now if my new job and I love being able to paint them again 😛
