Now lets show you how we created this look!

Red rose nail art, valentine's day nail art, base coat nail varnish

STEP 1

First of all it is important to make sure your nails are clean and ready to be painted before we start, so we need to do a little bit of preparation. If you have nail varnish on already, you will need to take it off with some nail varnish remover. After this is done, I usually wash my hands just to just to ensure my nails are completely clean.

Then it’s time to tidy your nails up a little and shape them to how you want them with your file. If you want make your nails appear longer you can push back your cuticles. If you place your hand in some warm water for a few minutes, it will help soften your skin making it easier for you to do this.

Once you are ready, you should apply a base coat to your nail as this will protect your nails from being stained but also will make applying your nail varnish much smoother. We used the Vitamin Base Coat (1) to do this.

STEP 2

Once your base coat is dry (this shouldn’t take too long), we can start moving on to the more exciting parts – deciding what colour you want your nails to be! For this look, we decided to have the ring finger as the main focus so we painted that nail with the nail varnish in the colour Nail Tip Whitener (3) and the rest of the nails with the gorgeous deep red (2) nail varnish. We applied 2 coats of the nail varnish as this makes sure the nails are covered well.

We recommend you apply two thin coats rather than one thick one as the thicker the coat, the longer it will take to dry.

STEP 3

Once the white nail varnish is dry, it’s time to start creating the rose! Firstly, we need to start with the rose head – as you can see in the photo above, we started with painting on the outline using the dotting pen (8) and the nail varnish in the colour Blackjack (4)

STEP 4

After painting on the first bit of the rose, we painted on the small line above to finish creating the rose shape! To do this, we used the dotting pen (8) with the nail varnish in the colour Blackjack (4).

STEP 5

Next we need to paint on the roses stalk. To do this we just painted on a small thin line using the dotting pen (8) with the nail varnish in the colour Blackjack (4).

STEP 6

Once you have finished painting the stalk on, it’s now time to add a small leaf! We used the dotting pen (8) with the nail varnish in the colour Blackjack (4) to do this.

STEP 7

Now it’s time to start adding some colour to this beautiful rose! We used the small pointed drawing brush (9) to paint on the gorgeous glittery red (5) nail varnish for the rose.

* Using the small pointed drawing brush makes it easier to paint in the small area.

STEP 8

Next it’s time to add colour to the leaf! We used the small pointed drawing brush (9) with the nail varnish in the colour (6) to do this.

STEP 9

This look is gorgeous with the rose so you could finish it there if you wanted to, but we decided to add a little extra – small golden hearts with some dots on the other nails! We started with painting on the small hearts first, and then painted on 2 dots underneath them using the dotting pen (8) with the gold nail varnish (7).

If you want to see how you can easily paint small hearts on your nails, check out out our Golden Heart Nail Look tutorial and we’ll show you how to!

And that’s it! A gorgeous look for your nails this Valentine’s Day! It’s also perfect for everyday wear, parties and any special occasion!

Ahhh this is soooo pretty! Perfect for valentine’s day, right?! It doesn’t look too difficult either – well, I think it looks easier than the butterfly design from the other week, anyway! x

It is so pretty, isn’t it?! The aim was to try create some more designs that weren’t too difficult and this one definitely isn’t! Haha, yes it is – it’s good to mix things up a little and have some that may be a little more difficult too 🙂

You just keep getting better if you ask me. The detail is amazing and still so simple to follow. I think this is one of my faves I guess esp since I’m getting such a beauty and the beast kind of vibe. Haha you should tag Disney. Great designs as usual.
