STEP 1

First of all it is important to make sure your nails are clean and ready to be painted before we start, so we need to do a little bit of preparation. If you have nail polish on already, you will need to take it off with some nail polish remover. After this is done, I usually wash my hands just to ensure my nails are completely clean.

Then it’s time to tidy your nails up a little and to shape them to how you want, using with your file. Also, if you want make your nails appear longer – you can push back your cuticles. If you place your hand in some warm water for a few minutes, it will help soften your skin making it easier for you to do this.

Once you are ready, you should apply a base coat to your nail as this will protect your nails from being stained but also will make applying your nail polish much smoother. We used the Vitamin Base Coat (1) to do this.

STEP 2

Once your base coat is dry, we can start moving on to the more exciting parts – deciding what colour you want your nails to be! For this look, we decided to have the ring finger as the main focus so we painted this nail with the nail polish in the colour Nutmeg (3), and the rest with the gorgeous nail polish in the colour Blood Orange (2). We applied 2 coats of the nail polish as this makes sure the nails are covered well.

We recommend you apply two thin coats rather than one thick one as the thicker the coat, the longer it will take to dry.

STEP 3

Once the nail polish is dry, it’s time to start creating this Santa hat nail art! The first thing we need to do is paint on the red part of Santa’s hat. To do this, we used the pointed drawing brush (8) with the nail polish in the colour Blood Orange (2).

STEP 4

To allow some time for the red nail polish to dry for the Santa hat, we decided to add the gorgeous glitter ombre effect on the other nails. We started with the little finger nail first. To create the glitter ombre effect, we applied the nail polish in the colour Cherry Bomb (4) to the beauty sponge (7) and gently dabbed it on the nail. You want to make sure you apply the most glitter at the tips of the nail and make it begin to fade away as it moves up the nail.

* To make it easier, you can paint some of the nail polish in the colour Cherry Bomb (4) straight on to the tip of the nail to help build it up there.

STEP 5

After you have finished with the little finger nail, now it’s time to create the glitter ombre effect on the rest of the nails!

STEP 6

The red nail polish for the Santa hat should be dry now, so it’s time to start adding the detail! We started by painting on the white outline for the trim around the bottom of the Santa hat. To do this, we used the slightly thinner pointed drawing brush (9) with the nail polish in the colour Cotton (5).

STEP 7

After you have painted on the outline for the trim on the Santa hat, you need to fill it in! To do this, we used the slightly thinner pointed drawing brush (9) with the nail polish in the colour Cotton (5).

STEP 8

Next you want to paint on the bobble on the Santa hat! To do this, we used the slightly thinner pointed drawing brush (9) with the nail polish in the colour Cotton (5).

STEP 9

Now it’s time to add the final touches to this Santa hat nail art! We decided to add a bit of sparkle to the red part of the Santa hat – to do this, we used the thinnest pointed drawing brush (10) with the nail polish in the colour Diamond Glitter (6). After adding the bit of sparkle there, we used the pointed drawing brush (10) with the nail polish in the colour Diamond Glitter (6) to paint on a bit more sparkle on the tips of the other nails with the glitter ombre effect.

When you are happy – apply a top coat to finish the look off!

And that’s how we created this Santa hat nail look! It’s a gorgeous nail look for your nails at Christmas!
