Now lets show you how we created this silver heart nail art!

step 1

First of all it is important to make sure your nails are clean and ready to be painted before we start, so we need to do a little bit of preparation. If you have nail polish on already, you will need to take it off with some nail polish remover. After this is done, I usually wash my hands just to ensure my nails are completely clean.

Then it’s time to tidy your nails up a little and to shape them to how you want, using with your file. Also, if you want make your nails appear longer – you can push back your cuticles. If you place your hand in some warm water for a few minutes, it will help soften your skin making it easier for you to do this.

Once you are ready, you should apply a base coat to your nail as this will protect your nails from being stained but also will make applying your nail polish much smoother. We used the Vitamin Base Coat (1) to do this.

step 2

Once your base coat is dry (this shouldn’t take too long), we can start moving on to the more exciting parts – deciding what colour you want your nails to be! For this look, we decided to have the ring finger and middle finger as the main focus so we painted them with the nail polish in the colour Nail Tip Whitener (2) and the rest of the nails with the gorgeous nail polish in the colour Pink Manicure (3). We applied 2 coats of the nail polish as this makes sure the nails are covered well.

We recommend you apply two thin coats rather than one thick one as the thicker the coat, the longer it will take to dry.

step 3

Once the white nail polish is dry, it’s time to paint the ring finger with the silver glittery (4) nail polish!

* If you do use this silver glittery nail polish – we did have to paint on a few layers on to create the look we did.

step 4

After you have finished painting the nail polish on the ring finger, it’s time to move on to creating the main focus of this nail look on the middle finger nail. To start with, we need to plan where we want the pink stripe to be – to do this we used the straight line stencils (6) and placed them gently over the nail.

It is important you make sure your nail polish is dry before you place it over your nail as this could take your nail polish off!

* We did make sure this stripe would be bigger then the heart gem that will be going in the middle of it (as you can see in the final image).

If you don’t have any stencils, it’s okay, you can use tape instead! You can see how we used the tape technique on our tutorial for the Stripe and Flower Nail Look.

step 5

Once you are happy with the placement of the stencils, it’s time to paint on the first stripe! We used the gorgeous pink (3) nail polish that we used on the other nails for this.

* When you are painting on the nail polish on, don’t worry if you get some on the stencil – it protects that part of your nail!

step 6

Now it’s time to gently take the stencil off.

step 7

After we finished with the pink stripe, we gently placed some more of the straight line stencils (6) down either side of it to plan where we wanted to thinner stripes to be.

step 8

Once you are happy with the placement of the stencils, it’s time to paint on the next 2 stripes. We used the flat drawing brush (8) with the nail polish in the colour Sequin Dream (4) for this.

step 9

Now it’s time to gently take off these stencils.

step 10

Now it’s time to add the cute small little heart jewel (10)! Firstly, we painted a top coat (5) on the nail to help the jewel stick and then gently placed it in the middle of the big pink stripe.

step 11

This look is gorgeous with just the silver heart jewel as the main focus on the middle finger nail so you could finish it there if you wanted to, but we decided to add a little extra! We gently placed a pink gem (11) using the dotting tool (7) above and below the heart on the white nail polish.

* If the top coat nail polish is already dry, you may need to add a little bit extra where you want the jewels to be to help them stick to the nail and make it secure.

step 12

Now it’s time to add the final touch to the look – some silver gems on the pink nails! To do this we applied a top coat (5) to the nails and then gently placed the silver gems (10) on using the dotting tool (7), in the middle of the nail near the top.

* Once you are happy with where the gems are placed, you can apply another layer of the top coat to make the gems more even more secure.

And that’s it! A gorgeous look for your nails this Valentine’s Day! It’s also perfect for everyday wear, parties and any special occasion!
