Spider | Nail Art

Want to know how to create this spider nail look? Follow our 10 step guide below!

The products we used to create this look:

Nail varnish and nail art tools

1. Vitamin Base Coat – Natural Collection
2. Gelly Hi Shine – Barry M – Black Forest
3. Molten Metal – Barry M – Holographic Lights
4. 60 Seconds Super Shine – Rimmel London – Clear
5. Nail Paint – Barry M – Diamond Glitter
6. Pointed Drawing Brush
7.  Silver Gem (Big)
8. Silver Gem (Small)

Now lets show you how we created this spider nail art!

Spider nail art, Halloween nails, base coat nail varnish, easy nail art

STEP 1

First of all it is important to make sure your nails are clean and ready to be painted before we start, so we need to do a little bit of preparation. If you have nail varnish on already, you will need to take it off with some nail varnish remover. After this is done, I usually wash my hands just to ensure my nails are completely clean.

Then it’s time to tidy your nails up a little and to shape them to how you want, using with your file. Also, if you want make your nails appear longer – you can push back your cuticles. If you place your hand in some warm water for a few minutes, it will help soften your skin making it easier for you to do this.

Once you are ready, you should apply a base coat to your nail as this will protect your nails from being stained but also will make applying your nail varnish much smoother. We used the Vitamin Base Coat (1) to do this.

STEP 2

Once your base coat is dry, we can start moving on to the more exciting parts – deciding what colour you want your nails to be! For this look, we decided to paint our nails with the nail varnish in the colour Black Forest (2) to begin with. We applied 2 coats of the nail varnish as this makes sure the nails are covered well.

We recommend you apply two thin coats rather than one thick one as the thicker the coat, the longer it will take to dry.

STEP 3

Once the black nail varnish is dry, it’s time to start creating this spider nail art! Firstly, we painted a short silver line going down the middle of the ring finger nail using the pointed drawing brush (6) with the nail varnish in the colour Holographic Lights (3). This will be the web that the spider is hanging from!

STEP 4

Next we started creating the spiders web on the middle finger nail. As you can see in the photo above, we painted 4 lines on the middle finger nail using the pointed drawing brush (6) with the nail varnish in the colour Holographic Lights (3). We started from the bottom of the nail and painted the line upwards.

STEP 5

We repeated the previous step and painted on the start of the spiders web on the index finger nail.

STEP 6

Now it’s time to start ‘weaving the web’ together! As you can see in the photo above, on the middle finger nail – we started at the bottom of the nail, painting on curved lines in between the 4 lines so they would be joined together. To do this, we used the pointed drawing brush (6) with the nail varnish in the colour Holographic Lights (3).

STEP 7

Next you want to carry on ‘weaving the web’ together! Don’t forget to do this on the index finger nail too!

STEP 8

Once you have finished creating the web, it’s time to start creating the spider! To do this, we applied a small amount of the clear (4) nail varnish on the ring finger nail at the end of the line we painted on earlier. We then gently applied the bigger silver gem (8) first as this will be the body for the spider, and then gently applied the small silver gem (7) below it for the spiders head.

STEP 9

To add the final touch to the spider, we painted on small thin lines coming out of the spiders body for his legs! To do this, we used the pointed drawing brush (6) with the nail varnish in the colour Holographic Lights (3).

STEP 10

Now it’s time to add the final touches to this spider nail art; we painted a coat of the nail varnish in the colour Diamond Glitter (5) over the little finger nail and the thumb nail to finish this look!

And that’s how we created this spider nail look! It’s the perfect Halloween nail look for your nails!

It looks lush! So creepy but also not too difficult to do. And subtle enough to pull off before Halloween.

Thank you so much! I didn’t want to create looks that were too over the top. I thought it was creepy enough but also quite pretty with using the glittery polishes 😛 so glad you think that 😀

Thank you! I wanted to make a look that could also be quite pretty, so decided to create the sparkly side to it 😀 oh definitely – I recently did a look that was black nail polish with glitter on top. It looked really nice! Not a colour I usually go with, but loved it!

Okay PLEASE COME AND DO THESE ON MY NAILS. I love all things spooky all year round and my god these are so me!! I love the colour combo, the glitter, the little spider and gem, it’s just all wonderful! Definitely my favourite set you’ve done so far just for the creepy goodness. I was supposed to get a spooky set of nails done last week but had to cancel as I was unwell! I’m still yet to try any Barry M nail products but I think I might just put them on my Christmas list this year!

Haha, thank you so much for this lovely comment. It put a huge smile on my face! I’d love to come paint this look on your nails! It was so much fun coming up with this look! I really wanted to create a look with a spider made from gems 😀 aww, I’m so sad to hear that. I hope you are feeling better now! Exciting! I only recently started buying their products – I think the first ones I bought were from their ‘Under the Sea’ collection. They aren’t that expensive, similar to Rimmel and are really lovely to use!

I don’t like spiders either, but I thought I had to create a look like this once I pictured it in my head, haha. I thought making it nice and glittery would really add something nice to this look and make it less ‘creepy’ 😛
