Now lets show you how we created this abstract Christmas tree nail art!
step 1
First of all it is important to make sure your nails are clean and ready to be painted before we start, so we need to do a little bit of preparation. If you have nail polish on already, you will need to take it off with some nail polish remover. After this is done, I usually wash my hands just to ensure my nails are completely clean.
Then it’s time to tidy your nails up a little and to shape them to how you want, using with your file. Also, if you want make your nails appear longer – you can push back your cuticles. If you place your hand in some warm water for a few minutes, it will help soften your skin making it easier for you to do this.
Once you are ready, you should apply a base coat to your nail as this will protect your nails from being stained but also will make applying your nail polish much smoother. We used the Vitamin Base Coat (1) to do this.
step 2
Once your base coat is dry, we can start moving on to the more exciting parts – deciding what colour you want your nails to be! For this look, we decided to paint our nails with the nail polish in the colour Blue Jade (2). We applied 2 coats of the nail polish as this makes sure the nails are covered well.
We recommend you apply two thin coats rather than one thick one as the thicker the coat, the longer it will take to dry.
step 3
Once the nail polish is dry, it’s time to start creating this abstract Christmas tree nail art! The first thing we need to do is paint on the tree trunk at the tip of the nail, in the middle. To do this, we used the small pointed drawing brush (6) with the nail polish in the colour Holographic Lights (3).
We also painted a small dot near the top of the nail using the dotting tool (5) with the nail polish in the colour Holographic Lights (3). This will help guide you with how big the tree is going to be!
step 4
Next we painted on 2 small dots near the tip of the nail which will help guide you with the first line, and also show you how big the bottom of the tree will be. To do this, we used the dotting tool (5) with the nail polish in the colour Holographic Lights (3).
step 5
Now it’s time to start creating the abstract Christmas tree! To do this, we need to paint on a line to join the 2 dots together – we used the small pointed drawing brush (6) with the nail polish in the colour Holographic Lights (3).
step 6
Next you want to start building it upwards! We painted on the next line slightly shorter than the previous one, at an angle. To do this, we used the small pointed drawing brush (6) with the nail polish in the colour Holographic Lights (3).
step 7
Now you need to repeat the previous step and paint on another line slightly shorter than the previous one, going in the opposite direction. To do this, we used the small pointed drawing brush (6) with the nail polish in the colour Holographic Lights (3).
step 8
Keep building the tree up making sure each line is slightly shorter then the previous one so it will reach the top!
step 9
Almost there!
step 10
Now you need to paint on one more line, so you reach your marker. The abstract Christmas tree is now almost complete, it is missing one thing though!
step 11
As you have finished painting the abstract Christmas tree, it’s time to add the missing part – the star at the top! To do this, we applied a top coat over the ring finger nail and gently applied the Silver Star Gem (8) at the top of the tree.
step 12
To add the final touches to this look, we created a glitter ombre effect. To do this, we applied a small amount of the nail polish in the colour Diamond Glitter (4) to the pointed drawing brush (7) and painted it on the nail so it would finish halfway up the nail. We did this a few times, and then applied the nail polish in the colour Diamond Glitter (4) directly at the tip of the nail to build it up there.
* You want to make sure you apply the most glitter at the tips of the nail and make it begin to fade away as it moves up the nail.
step 13
Now it’s time to add the final touches to this abstract Christmas tree nail art! We created the glitter ombre effect on the rest of the nails, and also using the pointed drawing brush (6), carefully applied a small amount of the nail polish in the colour Diamond Glitter (4) along the silver lines for the tree.
When you are happy – apply a top coat to finish the look off!
And that’s how we created this abstract Christmas tree nail look! It’s a gorgeous nail look for your nails at Christmas!
