Now lets show you how we created this anchor nail art!

step 1

First of all it is important to make sure your nails are clean and ready to be painted before we start, so we need to do a little bit of preparation. If you have nail polish on already, you will need to take it off with some nail polish remover. After this is done, I usually wash my hands just to ensure my nails are completely clean.

Then it’s time to tidy your nails up a little and to shape them to how you want, using with your file. Also, if you want make your nails appear longer – you can push back your cuticles. If you place your hand in some warm water for a few minutes, it will help soften your skin making it easier for you to do this.

Once you are ready, you should apply a base coat to your nail as this will protect your nails from being stained but also will make applying your nail polish much smoother. We used the Vitamin Base Coat (1) to do this.

step 2

Once your base coat is dry (this shouldn’t take too long), we can start moving on to the more exciting parts – deciding what colour you want your nails to be! For this look, we decided to have the ring finger as the main focus so we painted this nail with the white (3) nail polish, and the rest with the gorgeous nail polish in the colour Pillow Talk (2). We applied 2 coats of the nail polish as this makes sure the nails are covered well.

We recommend you apply two thin coats rather than one thick one as the thicker the coat, the longer it will take to dry.

step 3

Once the white nail polish is dry, it’s time to start creating the anchor nail art! The first thing we need to do is start painting on the anchor. To do this, we painted a small thin line down the middle of the ring finger nail using the pointed drawing brush (6) with the nail polish in the colour Pillow Talk (2).

* You can use a dotting tool to paint on the anchor instead if you feel more comfortable.

step 4

After you have painted on the thin line, it’s time to start painting on the features to create the anchor. The first part we painted on was a thin curved line at the bottom of the straight line. To do this, we used the pointed drawing brush (6) with the nail polish in the colour Pillow Talk (2).

step 5

Next we painted on a small circle at the top of the straight line using the pointed drawing brush (6) with the nail polish in the colour Pillow Talk (2).

step 6

After you have painted on the small circle, you want to paint a small thin line underneath it to finish creating the shape of the anchor. To do this, we used the pointed drawing brush (6) with the nail polish in the colour Pillow Talk (2).

step 7

As you can see in the photo above, we added some small touches to the anchor by painting on small triangle shapes at the ends of the small line and the curved line. To do this, we used the dotting tool (5) with the nail polish in the colour Pillow Talk (2).

step 8

After you have finished painting on the anchor, it’s time to start adding the final touches to this nail look. Firstly, we decided to paint stripes on the middle nail. To do this, we cut pieces of the striping tape (7) and gently placed them over the nail to plan where we would like the white stripes to be.

It is important you make sure your nail polish is dry before you place it over your nail as this could take your nail polish off!

If you don’t have any striping tape or stencils, it’s okay, you can use tape instead! You can see how we used the tape technique on our tutorial for the Stripe and Flower Nail Look.

step 9

Once you are happy with the placement of the striping tape, it’s time to paint on the stripes! To do this, we used the nail polish in the colour White Out (3).

When you are painting on the nail polish on, don’t worry if you get some on the stencil – it protects that part of your nail!

step 10

After you have painted on the white stripes, let them dry a little and then gently take off the striping time.

step 11

Now it’s time to add the final touch to this anchor nail art. As you can see in the photo above, we decided to paint on 3 small lines on the little finger nail. We used the same technique as we did in step 8 for the stripes, but this time painted the top and bottom stripe with the nail polish in the colour White Out (3) and the middle one with the nail polish in the colour Your Majesty (4).

When you are happy – apply a top coat to finish the look off!

And that’s how we created this anchor nail look! It’s a gorgeous look for your nails over the summer!
