Now lets show you how we created this bat nail art!

step 1

First of all it is important to make sure your nails are clean and ready to be painted before we start, so we need to do a little bit of preparation. If you have nail polish on already, you will need to take it off with some nail polish remover. After this is done, I usually wash my hands just to ensure my nails are completely clean.

Then it’s time to tidy your nails up a little and to shape them to how you want, using with your file. Also, if you want make your nails appear longer – you can push back your cuticles. If you place your hand in some warm water for a few minutes, it will help soften your skin making it easier for you to do this.

Once you are ready, you should apply a base coat to your nail as this will protect your nails from being stained but also will make applying your nail polish much smoother. We used the Vitamin Base Coat (1) to do this.

step 2

Once your base coat is dry, we can start moving on to the more exciting parts – deciding what colour you want your nails to be! For this look, we decided to have the finger nails as the main focus so we painted these nails with the nail polish in the colour White Out (3), and then painted the thumb nail with the nail polish in the colour Black (2). We applied 2 coats of the nail polish as this makes sure the nails are covered well.

We recommend you apply two thin coats rather than one thick one as the thicker the coat, the longer it will take to dry.

step 3

Once the black nail polish is dry, it’s time to start creating this bat nail art! As you can see in the photo above, we firstly painted on 4 small dots using the dotting tool (5) with the nail polish in the colour Black (2). This is to help plan where the bat will be!

The dots on the middle and ring finger nail are there to plan for the bats ears, and the dots on the index and little finger nail are to plan for the edge of the bats wings.

step 4

Next we started creating the bats wings on the index and little finger nail! As you can see in the photo above, we painted on a slightly curved line. To do this, we used the pointed drawing brush (6) with the nail polish in the colour Black (2).

As we have painted on these dots in the previous step, it helps to plan the shape of the bat wing as we know where it will end!

step 5

Once you have finished creating the beginning shape of the bats wings, it’s time to go back and paint on the bats ears. To do this, we used the dotting tool (5) with the nail polish in the colour Black (2).

We painted these on the nails so it will look like they are joined together when the nails are together (you can see this in the images showing the final look!).

step 6

After you have finished painting on the bats ears and head, it’s time to create the shape of the wings on the middle and ring finger nail.

As you can see in the photo above, we have shaped them so they will look like they are joined together when the nails are together (you can see this in the images showing the final look!). To do this, we used the pointed drawing brush (6) with the nail polish in the colour Black (2).

step 7

Now it’s time to really start shaping the bat wings! We started at the outer part of the wing; painting on curved lines going down towards the bats body on the middle finger nail. To do this, we used the pointed drawing brush (6) with the nail polish in the colour Black (2).

Don’t forget to make sure the lines match up so the wings will join together when the nails are together!

step 8

Now you want to repeat the previous step and paint on the outline for the wing on the other side. Once you are happy, it’s time to carefully fill in the outline with the nail polish in the colour Black (2).

step 9

After allowing the black nail polish to dry, we decided to add a bit of sparkle to this look by painting the gorgeous nail polish in the colour Diamond Dust (4) on top of the bat. To make it easier to paint this as the area is quite small, we used the angled drawing brush (7). This helped fit into the small gaps!

We also painted a coat of the gorgeous nail polish in the colour Diamond Dust (4) over the thumb nail.

step 10

Now it’s time to add the final touches to this bat nail art – painting on some eyes! To do this, we firstly used the dotting tool (8) with the nail polish in the colour White Out (3) to paint on the white dots and then used the dotting tool (8) with the nail polish in the colour Black (2) to paint on the black dots, creating the eyes.

When you are happy – apply a top coat to finish the look off!

And that’s how we created this bat nail look! It’s the perfect Halloween nail look for your nails!
