Now lets show you how we created this Christmas tree nail art!
step 1
First of all it is important to make sure your nails are clean and ready to be painted before we start, so we need to do a little bit of preparation. If you have nail polish on already, you will need to take it off with some nail polish remover. After this is done, I usually wash my hands just to ensure my nails are completely clean.
Then it’s time to tidy your nails up a little and to shape them to how you want, using with your file. Also, if you want make your nails appear longer – you can push back your cuticles. If you place your hand in some warm water for a few minutes, it will help soften your skin making it easier for you to do this.
Once you are ready, you should apply a base coat to your nail as this will protect your nails from being stained but also will make applying your nail polish much smoother. We used the Vitamin Base Coat (1) to do this.
step 2
Once your base coat is dry (this shouldn’t take too long), we can start moving on to the more exciting parts – deciding what colour you want your nails to be! For this look, we decided to have the ring finger as the main focus so we painted that nail with the nail polish in the colour French White (3), and the rest with the nail polish in the colour Mulled Wine (2). We applied 2 coats as this made sure the nails were covered well.
We recommend you apply two thin coats rather than one thick one as the thicker the coat, the longer it will take to dry!
step 3
Once the white nail polish is dry, the real fun begins – time to start creating the Christmas tree! To do this, we used the long pointed drawing brush with the nail polish in the colour Loosey Goosey Dancin (4). We started at the bottom part of the tree and worked our way up. As you can see in the photo, we left a gap below the tree as we’re going to be adding something there later!
step 4
Once we finished painting on the Christmas tree, we then outlined it using the thin dotting tool (12) with the nail polish in the colour Blackjack (5).
step 5
Now it’s time to add a little bit of sparkle to the tree! Firstly, we applied a little bit of the nail polish in the colour Loosey Goosey Dancin (4) as this will create a surface for the glitter to stick to. We then gently applied the green glitter (14) by using the small pointed drawing brush (13).
step 6
To give the Christmas tree some time to dry, we decided to add a little bit of detail to underneath the tree! It needs a little pot to stand in, right?! First of all, we painted on the tree trunk using the long pointed drawing brush (11) with the nail polish in the colour Mocha (6). Then we painted on a small pot using the long pointed drawing brush (11) and the nail polish in the colour Mulled Wine (2).
step 7
We then added a thin black outline using the dotting tool (12) with the nail polish in the colour Blackjack (5).
step 8
Now it’s time to add the final touch – some colour decorations onto the Christmas tree! To paint them on, we used the dotting tool (12). We decided to use a few different colours – yellow (7), orange (8), blue (9) and pink (10) as we thought these would be a great mix. As you can see, it made our Christmas tree nice and colourful!
When you are happy – apply a top coat to finish the look off.
And that’s it! How cute is this look?! Perfect for everyday wear with it getting closer to Christmas! So if you are getting into that Christmassy mood – why not have fun and paint this look on your nails to show everyone!
