Would you like this design painted on false nails for you?
If you can’t find this design with our other false nail sets in our shop, please contact me and I will happily sort it out for you!
Now lets show you how we created this super cute penguin nail art!
Step 1
First of all it is important to make sure your nails are clean and ready to be painted before we start, so we need to do a little bit of preparation. If you have nail polish on already, you will need to take it off with some nail polish remover. After this is done, I usually wash my hands just to ensure my nails are completely clean.
Then it’s time to tidy your nails up a little and to shape them to how you want, using with your file. Also, if you want make your nails appear longer – you can push back your cuticles. If you place your hand in some warm water for a few minutes, it will help soften your skin making it easier for you to do this.
Once you are ready, you should apply a base coat to your nail as this will protect your nails from being stained but also will make applying your nail polish much smoother. We used the Vitamin Base Coat (1) to do this.
Step 2
Once your base coat is dry, we can start moving on to the more exciting parts – deciding what colour you want your nails to be! For this look, we decided to have the ring finger as the main focus so we painted this nail with the white (3) nail polish, and the rest with the gorgeous nail polish in the colour Bestival Blue (2). We applied 2 coats of the nail polish as this makes sure the nails are covered well.
We recommend you apply two thin coats rather than one thick one as the thicker the coat, the longer it will take to dry.
step 3
Once the nail polish is dry, it’s time to start creating this penguin nail art! The first thing we need to do is paint on an outline of the penguin. To do this, we used the pointed drawing brush (9) with the nail polish in the colour Black Forest (4).
step 4
Next we painted on a small dot near the top of the penguin to help mark out the shape for the face. To do this, we used the dotting tool (10) with the nail polish in the colour Black Forest (4).
step 5
As you can see in the photo above, the next step is to paint down towards the mark you have previously made to create the top shape for the penguins face. To do this, we used the pointed drawing brush (8) with the nail polish in the colour Black Forest (4).
step 6
Next you want to create the bottom shape for the penguins face. To do this, we used the pointed drawing brush (8) with the nail polish in the colour Black Forest (4).
step 7
After you have painted on the shape at the bottom for the penguins face, as you can see in the photo above – it’s time to create a bit more definition and shape for the penguins body and face. To do this, we used the pointed drawing brush (9) with the nail polish in the colour White Out (2).
* Feel free to carefully paint the whole outside area around the penguin with the white nail polish to help keep this section level – it will all be sorted when you apply the top coat at the end.
step 8
Now it’s time to start adding the important details to the penguin! Firstly, we started with the penguins eyes – to do this, we used the dotting tool (10) with the nail polish in the colour Black Forest (4).
step 9
Next is the penguins beak! To do this, we used the dotting tool (10) with the nail polish in the colour Peachella (5).
step 10
Now we want to paint on a cute little bow tie! We started by painting on a dot slightly under the beak, using the smaller end of the dotting tool (11) with the nail polish in the colour Blood Orange (6).
step 11
After you have painted on the dot for the middle of the bow tie, you need to finish creating the bow tie by painting on a triangle on either side. To do this, we used the dotting tool (10) with the nail polish in the colour Blood Orange (6).
step 12
Now it’s time to add the final touches to this penguin nail art! Firstly, we began by adding a small amount of glitter to the bow tie by using the pointed drawing brush (8) with the glitter (7) nail polish. The next thing we did is paint on the top of the penguins feet, to do this we used the larger end of the dotting tool (11) with the nail polish in the colour Peachella (5).
When you are happy – apply a top coat to finish the look off.
And that’s how we created this super cute penguin nail look! It’s a gorgeous nail look for your nails at Christmas!
